One day I was driving down the road and I was looking at all the trees that God had created, and I was just thinking how beautiful they are. When you look at the trees and really take the time to think about it they are kind of like people are. There is not any two of them just alike. They may be the same type of tree but they are all different sizes, shapes, and even textures.
With people we have different colored skin, hair, eyes, even our teeth are different. When something happens they can usually identify our body with dental records, it is just like identifying a tree by the bark on it.We have different attitudes, different personalities, different ideas. There is not any two people in this world that are one hundred percent identical.
While I was driving down the road I was looking at the different trees and some of them were so full and loaded with leaves that you couldn’t even see the trunk of the tree’s. Then some of them didn’t have as many leaves as the others but they were still well shaped and well covered. After going down the road a little farther I saw a tree that had about half of the limbs covered with leaves and the other half of the limbs were bare nothing at all on the just out in the open and all exposed to the open elements of the world.
After thinking about this for a little while I realized just how much God really made trees and humans alike. The sap in the wood is like the blood in the human body, without it we can’t survive. The bark of the tree is like the skin of the human body, if you knock the bark off of the tree it will bleed the sap. If you cut the skin of the human body it will bleed out blood.
What this was making me think of more than anything else was, when you look at the full well covered tree’s they kinda make you think of Christian that is very dedicated. It is kinda like the armor of God.
Ephesians 6:11-13 (NKJV)
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a]against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Then you have the tree’s that are not so full and not as thick with the protection of the leaves. These tree’s are like the Christians that are not as dedicated they are not as faithful. Some christians just want to do what it takes to get by and they only learn and study whenever it is good for them.
Luke 11:33-36 (KJV)
33 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.
34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.
35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.
36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.
If a person is going to shine a light for others to see they need to make sure that the light is pure and bright. If a person does not devote time to study they will not be that dedicated.
People have all got “Temptation’s” to deal with but the main thing is, is to be an overcomer. If you are dedicated and strong with the power of God and you walk in the fulness of His blessings daily, they are much easier to overcome.
Proverbs 29:11 (KJV)
11 A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.
2 Peter 1:5-8 (KJV)
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Then if a person is not sure about their standing in their walk with the Lord they should be doing self checking. It’s not for other people judge our actions or what we are doing but it is for us alone.
Psalm 26:1-2 (KJV)
1 Judge me, O Lord; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the Lord; therefore I shall not slide.
2 Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.
Then we can look at Ephesians 6:10-12 (KJV)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
1 Timothy 4:7-8 (KJV)
7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
James 1:12 (KJV)
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Then you have the tree’s that are only half covered with leaves, As you look at these trees they have limbs sticking out everywhere with no leaves at all and a few of them have leaves but they are still not thick like they should be. When you look at the limbs without leaves you can see the dry crusty look of death on them. They look like they could just fall off the tree and burst into a million pieces. Some of them have started to loose the bark and they are dry looking like they are going to just turn to powder.
You know a backslider is a lot like the death that has came upon the tree. You can see how they wither away and start to make excuses for everything that is wrong and what is coming against them. Most of the time they try to blame others or even try to blame God, when it is nobody’s fault but their own.
When a person starts to backsliding it is harder for them to overcome the evils that come against them. They always see things and reasons for why they are not worthy so they just keep on doing what they are doing. A lot of times you will hear them say I have done so much bad that God could never forgive me. With the truth being said nothing is impossible with God, He is the most forgiving and merciful God that we could ever know.
Proverbs 14:14 (KJV)
The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
Jeremiah 5:4-6 (KJV)
4 Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the Lord, nor the judgment of their God.
5 I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the Lord, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.
6 Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.
The more a person turns to the ways of the world and lives for him or herself the farther they pull away from the ways of God. That is just what satan wants from a backslider because once he gets ahold of them they have a even harder time to get back to God.
Revelation 2:4-5 (KJV)
4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
No matter where we are or where we stand if we ask the Lord for forgiveness and ask from the heart we will be forgiven. I thought at one time I had gone to far and done way too much for God to ever forgive me for all that I had done. The truth was God was just waiting on me to make a move toward him. I was wanting and hoping for God to have mercy on me and as always He did, but it is only because I came to realize that I had to make the first move and ask for his forgiveness and I had to accept what He was giving to me.
God can and will use anybody that walks in righteousness to do his work as he will have each person minister to those they come in contact with. God may not make you a Pastor of a church but there is a lot of other ways that he can have you minister and do his work. So I encourage each one of you to be open responsive and accepting to God’s plans. We may not know what they are but as we grow in God’s word we will learn to listen to his voice.
God has always got a plan and we must be willing to follow it.
I hope this message has truly been a blessing and touched somebody’s heart. I pray that with looking at this you will make yourself full and well covered with God’s word and right stand.
May God Bless each and everyone.
